Hide My IP At Work
Friday, March 18th, 2011It is nearly impossible, in this day and age, to be able to do anything online without someone else knowing that you’re doing it. This is especially true while you’re in the workplace, or you’re using a computer that your workplace provided for you. If it’s their equipment, chances are that they know everything you’re doing on it – and if they don’t, they can just by running a simple report on the back end.
This is why you have to be extremely careful while you’re using any equipment that doesn’t belong to you, especially if you’re using your work’s equipment. I have a friend who was let go for some of his extracurricular activities on a laptop at work. He had been checking his personal email and social networking sites frequently throughout the day, as well as browsing funny cat videos. The boss apparently didn’ think it was that funny.
So, if you’re going to be less than intelligent by doing something stupid like look at cat videos on your work’s computer, at least make a semi-intelligent decision and use a vpn service to hide your IP address while you’re doing it. If you’re really smart, then do what I do, which is to just not do anything I would need to hide my IP address for while I’m at work. Yes, I just called myself really smart, but hey, the shoe fits.
